How Skills Surveys Can More Effectively Identify Workforce Skills Gaps
Through a multicountry review of skills surveys, we propose an alternative approach to establishment skills surveys that can play a more effective role in determining how workforce skills influence achievement of firm business objectives in the Arab World.
Using Social Networking for Change
We see IT as an important enabler for regional development, and we have worked with global technology leaders such as Intel and Microsoft to deepen the impact of regional development programs leveraging technology.
A Regional Institution for Improving the Quality of Education
There are many opportunities for synergies through cooperation between regional education quality programs as well as clear areas of overlap which can benefit from consolidation.
Using Awards Effectively for Social Change
Many award programs in the region focus on large monetary sums to award best practices. We argue that money is not enough, and award programs should reinforce social change through knowledge diffusion, network building initiatives, and follow on training to maximize social impact.
Increasing Female Labor Market Participation With Scholarships
In several countries in the Arab World, women face significant obstacles to obtaining higher education and entering the workforce. We propose an e-Scholarships for Women Initiative to mitigate access, equality, and labor participation challenges.

How We Work

Arab governments, social sector institutions, and leading corporations choose to work with us because we offer knowledge, insight, and counsel they can use to move forward with confidence. Alongside each client, we deliver rigorous analysis, deep industry knowledge, and pragmatic solutions to produce tangible, high impact results. Our approach is shaped by the following principles of engagement:

1 + 1 = ∞. We leverage our expertise to unlock the full potential of the client. We offer expertise that complements our clients’ capabilities, not replaces it. We establish a collegial relationship with clients that allow them to build their capabilities so that they can fully participate in engagements and have the expertise to continue implementation after our work is finished.

Objective, Expert Guidance. We offer objective, expert guidance that allows clients to build internal support and reach practical recommendations to the challenges they face.

Execution Excellence. From our experience working with Arab governments, we have witnessed the deliverables of multimillion-dollar consulting projects going straight into the filing cabinet because the solutions offered are not implementable. With the need to deliver on social objectives, this can result in failure when implementing solutions proposed by advisors. Our engagement places an emphasis on both building personal capabilities as well as organizational capabilities to link process evaluations with outcomes and impacts to understand what is being implemented and what processes account for divergence in social outcomes. Our emphasis on both processes and impact leads to execution excellence.

Evidence-based problem Solving. Despite the lack of data and statistics on development issues in the region, we value evidence-based analysis and combine it with our deep understanding of regional development challenges to drive practical insights and results. This approach stresses multidisciplinary methods and triangulation to distinguish between causality and explanation, leveraging research based approaches to fill gaps in understanding to help move from a strategy based on anecdote to a strategy based on facts.

Accessibility. We strive to communicate and deliver solutions that are as understandable to CEOs as they are to the staff on the front lines of implementation and service delivery. We make every effort to communicate and deliver solutions in an understandable tone but which are still rooted in evidence-based, scientific analysis that can be consumed broadly by stakeholders from industry, academia, and government. Accessibility is critical to internalizing capabilities so that organizations can lead future work and continue to improve their own performance with internally driven resources.

Focus on the Greater Good. Through our client work, we make a positive impact on the Arab region every day. We challenge common and accepted knowledge by contributing to the regional development debate through proprietary sponsored research and insights, our work, and our community engagement. By looking beyond standard solutions to develop new insights, we have a deep understanding of the present while shaping and anticipating the future development agenda.
