Our Thinking

How Skills Surveys Can More Effectively Identify Workforce Skills Gaps
Through a multicountry review of skills surveys, we propose an alternative approach to establishment skills surveys that can play a more effective role in determining how workforce skills influence achievement of firm business objectives in the Arab World.
Using Social Networking for Change
We see IT as an important enabler for regional development, and we have worked with global technology leaders such as Intel and Microsoft to deepen the impact of regional development programs leveraging technology.
A Regional Institution for Improving the Quality of Education
There are many opportunities for synergies through cooperation between regional education quality programs as well as clear areas of overlap which can benefit from consolidation.
Using Awards Effectively for Social Change
Many award programs in the region focus on large monetary sums to award best practices. We argue that money is not enough, and award programs should reinforce social change through knowledge diffusion, network building initiatives, and follow on training to maximize social impact.
Increasing Female Labor Market Participation With Scholarships
In several countries in the Arab World, women face significant obstacles to obtaining higher education and entering the workforce. We propose an e-Scholarships for Women Initiative to mitigate access, equality, and labor participation challenges.

    Our Capabilities

    Developing Skills and Capabilities
    • Creating decision-making tools for business units and country offices to ensure cohesion of programming and partner decisions

    • Designing implementation plans that include delivery timelines, detailed implementation coaching, and performance measurement mechanisms and benchmarks to ease our clients' management of their programs. Furthermore, we ensure the plans encourage cross-departmental cooperation to ensure rapid program deployment. In times or budgetary uncertainty, we can also help prioritize the client’s programming and scale back initiatives

    • Providing temporary program delivery support to transfer knowledge to staff or source experts to work alongside our client.

  • Below are a few examples of our recent work:

    • For an Arab government entity facing significant budget cuts, designed an interim strategic plan to deliver on existing commitments, rationalize resource intensive programs and processes, and increase financially sustainable operations by examining marketable assets
    • Developed a unified governance structure that mainstreams procedures and guidelines across all federal government agencies to ensure government effectiveness. Worked across several government departments to determine workflow and approvals proces
    • Designed and implemented a standardized reporting format for Board of Directors meetings for an Arab government entity
    • Established a project delivery methodology for an Arab government entity to standardize processes, reduce the risk of delivering highly complex projects, and increase the speed of execution
    • Devised a submission and assessment protocol for managing a Foundation’s unsolicited proposal process to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and value for money. The protocol instituted a transparent and streamlined internal approach to assessing proposals as well as provided consistency and certainty to potential grant recipients as to how their proposals are assessed
    • Developed and contributed content on regional knowledge-based development and economic and education requirements to the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning’s Developing Capacity for Establishing Lifelong Learning Systems in the Middle East and North Africa initiative which includes senior level education policymakers from Egypt, Kuwait, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates
    • For a senior level government official, led a statistical process analysis to determine administrative bottlenecks, more efficiently allocate departmental resources, and implement critical path scheduling dations
